[That was partially another aspect of why he enjoyed the holiday. It meant he could protect Fluttershy from the scarier aspects as well as show her that even if things appeared terrifying, not all of it was bad. But he knew better than to scare her himself. She didn't enjoy it and he wanted her to feel happy and safe. Why, even Usi behaved himself.

Chen slunps over Marik's shoulder as he always does as his trainer hums in thought.]

I know my first year, I went as a Gengar... maybe this year... we could do outfits inspired by different pokémon? But with a certain style of clothing. Like... some of that Victorian gothic? If you wanted to look fancy and cute.

[ Fluttershy’s face lights up at the suggestion. Honestly, getting to dress up as Pokemon is always a good idea to her. ]

Oh, yes! I think that’d be fun!

[Marik's smile widens. Seeing her perk up like that always makes his heart flutter.]

I've already done ghost type stuff... What type would you want to do?

[ Fluttershy hums softly as she taps her chin in thought. ]

Well… if we’re going for a gothic vibe, I think Ghost types would work best.

Just… maybe some of the cute ones.

[As the resident ghost-type expert:]

Maybe a Chandelure for you? Or we could do Pumkaboo and Gourgeist...

[There goes his crazy scheming.]

Or with you as Chandelure, you could go with a princess look and I'd be a knight as Aegislash! We could dress Chen as a Litwick.

[The Yamask nods enthusiastically.]

Oh, that does sound nice! I can bring Marshmallow along with us too.

[ She’s sure that her Lampent would enjoy seeing her dressed as his evolved form. ]

We can look for bits of the costumes while we're there! And get some lunch too.

Sounds good to me! [ Reaching down, she picks up her Skitty, Petunia, and holds her in her arms. ] I’m ready to go whenever you are.

[He instructs Rana to watch over the house. Of course, Marik needs to take his three main because otherwise Usi will act up and Oba will cry. The two are put into their pokéballs for safety while they travel.

By this point, Marik and Kaiba have come up with a sidecar for the Cyclizar to wear comfortably. With one equipped to Chafu for Shy to sit in, Marik hops on, pops on his helmet, and hands his girlfriend her custom made one.

The drive to Celadon doesn't take long even with the tomb keeper driving slower and more calmly than he usually does (for Fluttershy's sake, of course) and he parks them outside of the department store. Chafu waits patiently while the two dismount.]

Did you want to grab food before or after we shop?

[ Fluttershy always has her main three Pokemon with her as well, that always travel with her wherever she goes. Beary is usually kept in his Pokeball because he’s so big since becoming an Ursaluna, but Allegra and Archie generally walk around with her. But she recalls the Audino and Cinderace to their balls now, since the sidecar isn’t big enough for all of them. Securing the helmet on her head, she makes sure to hold Petunia is safely in her arms for the ride.

Once they arrive, she leaves the helmet in the side car as she steps out, and Petunia hops out of her arms to stretch her legs. ]

I think it’d be easier to shop with some food in our stomachs.

Good idea.

[And now that they're stopped, he lets Oba out, who promptly begins zooming around in circles around Shy, babbling about how he wants to be picked up and snuggled. Like always.

Marik really should stop spoiling the Goomy but it's hard to say no to that face. Chenzira remains on his shoulder for a bit while the two decide where they want to eat.]

Hmmm... We could go for ramen. Nice, warm broth for this slight chill in the air. How does that sound?

[A pause.]

And don't let Oba influence your decision.

[The Goomy looks up and pouts.]

[ Fluttershy giggles at the Goomy’s antics, and fortunately Petunia comes over, trying not to get Oba to play with her. Then she releases Allegra and Archie from their balls as well. ]

Oh, ramen does sound really nice right now. It’s the perfect thing for such a cool day like today.

[Marik doesn't even bother letting his Gengar out. Usi comes out on his own since everyone else is out. He waves excitedly at Fluttershy despite having seen her before they left his trainer's house.

The tomb keeper rolls his eyes at his pokémon's antics. Both of them.]

This way too, we can get vegetarian broth and ingredients.

[He holds his hand out towards the pinkette.]

Shall we then, m'lady?

[Gotta get into the role of being her knight, you know.]

[ Fluttershy giggles, returning the wave to the Gengar before turning to Marik and taking his hand with a smile. ]

[The group head off to the ramen shop. Once they've gotten their food and find a nice place to sit, Marik decides to engage in conversation between shoveling noodles into his mouth.

Oba happily munches on mochi, Usi and Chenzira have small bowls of soup for themselves. Chen, being the good boy he is, offers some to Fluttershy's pokémon even if they have their own food.]

Thanks for always humoring me during Halloween. I know it's not your favorite but... I hope I've made it a bit more enjoyable for you.

[ Allegra and Petunia politely decline Chen’s offer, content with their own food. Archie does take a bit of the extra, since he does eat a lot due to burning extra energy.

Fluttershy is all too happy to listen to Marik talk as they eat. The words have her smiling, and she nods. ]

You have. But I always like spending time with you. [ She stirs her noodles with her chopsticks, quiet for a moment. ] Plus, I know you didn’t get to do these kinds of things when you were growing up, so I like seeing you getting to enjoy yourself.

[Chen's always happy to share, especially since he knows not to overeat like Marik's other pokémon enjoy doing.

The tomb keeper smiles more confidently.]

I like spending time with you too. I can't believe we're going on 2 years together now...

I'm so thankful I have you to experience these things with. It's been so wonderful, Fluttershy...

[He sits up to carefully lean across the table and press a kiss to her forehead.]

I know. Time really does fly, doesn’t it?

[ A blush lights up Fluttershy’s cheeks at the kiss, and she can’t help the soft, shy smile she gives him as he sits back. ]

I’m glad I could be here with you. I’m glad I got to meet you.

It does.

[No matter how long it's been, seeing Shy get sheepish like that always warms his heart. Marik can't help but grin cheekily.]

I'm glad I got to meet you too. You've helped me in so many ways. I know I'm away from home but... this is the happiest I've ever been in my life. I wish Ishizu and Odion were here to see..

I know what you mean. I wish my friends were here, I’d love for them to meet you. I think they would like you a lot.

Ah...

[His cheeks flush slightly and he rubs the back of his head.]

You really think they'd approve of me? I-I'd be honored if that was true... I know my siblings would love you, Odion in particular.

[ooc: I think I'll have had him stay after the 4th wall day when he returned in this verse so he's been updated to end of series. This way he's at least gotten to go home and spend more time with his siblings beforehand.]

[ Fluttershy nods. ] I’m sure they would. I think you would’ve gotten along with Sunset Shimmer, especially. She plays more video games, but I think she would enjoy Duel Monsters too.

[ Plus she and Marik probably would’ve been able to bond over… certain things in their pasts. ]

I know it's not a good idea to get our hopes up but... maybe someday they'll all show up. That would be amazing...

[He continues to eat for a bit before continuing.]

Heh. Odion could get a job at the daycare. He'd be good for that. Sister... Huh... What could she do... Maybe she could do better research on the ruins and the like.

[A pause.]

I-I mean, they don't need to actually work with, uh, how successful my business has been but you know... sort of like how you still work at the daycare?

Right. They could find things they would enjoy doing. I’m sure they’d have fun here.

Sometimes I think of what my friends would do if they ended up here too. I think Rarity would do so well participating in the contests. And Twilight would probably love researching Pokemon too.

Yeah! It'd be fun to see what pokémon they got for themselves too.

[He chuckles.]

From what you've told me of Twilight, I think she and Ishizu would get along great.
