[Yeah, this... really doesn't sound good. She stays quiet as Marik talks, concern, surprise, and suspicion all playing out in turn and in unison across her face.]

I see... [It takes... probably a few seconds longer than Marik feels comfortable with before she nods.] As you wish, Marik. We appreciate the forthrightness.

[She means it... but she still has a LOT of questions she wants to ask. But for one, she doesn't want to get in the middle of another feud here, and b. .... she doesn't feel comfortable interrogating her friend's boyfriend when Fluttershy's standing right there. If Fluttershy asks, that works, but if not... Allura'll debate whether it's wise, or right, to pull him aside alone later.]

[ Fluttershy, meanwhile, watches Marik carefully, her expression full of worry. She knows about some of the darker parts of his past, but not much about the people he's just mentioned. But if they're at all related, she can understand his reluctance to talk with them immediately, even if they had said they'd forgiven him.

And she knows how difficult it can be for him, how much he struggles with working through some of these rougher parts of his past. All she can really do is keep supporting him as best she can. ]

Of course, Marik. Just take it at your own pace.

[ Getting back on her feet, she approaches Marik slowly and gently takes his hand. ]

[Perhaps he's putting more of a dramatic flare on it than he should but that's Marik for you. He's fully expecting questions and is mostly ready to answer them.

When Allura answers, even with the delay, he nods.]

[His demeanor changes almost immediately when Shy gets up and takes a hold of his hand. Like he hadn't just been scheming on how to avoid his old enemies, instead just a frightened child who's a victim of his circumstances. While yes, he is partially the victim, he's far more the villain in this case even if he doesn't view himself as such.

The blonde gently squeezes his girlfriend's hand.]

I will. I don't think there will be any problem... if they're from after Kaiba's tournament. If they're from during that though...

[He bites the inside of his bottom lip.]

L-Like I said, I don't care if you talk to them or anything. I'm not that petty. I just... want to be sure they're from a... "safe" point in time, you know?
